Reading Banned Books

  • April 25, 2024
  • 7:00 PM
  • Zoom (link to be distributed to registrants)
Here’s what you can expect from our book club: * Engaging Discussions: Our book club meetings are lively and inclusive. We encourage open dialogue, respectful disagreements, and critical thinking. Let’s explore the nuances of censorship, intellectual freedom, and the power of storytelling. *Community Building: Connect with fellow librarians and library science students in North Carolina. Share your insights, learn from others, and build a supportive community that values intellectual freedom. *Reading Banned Books: Every three months, we’ll discuss a banned or challenged book that often tackles important social issues and provokes conversations. Let’s embrace the freedom to explore them! Even if you have not read the books, we still encourage you to sit in and hear about the challenges against these books, and how to champion them. *Our inaugural book selection is Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe. This graphic novel has faced challenges due to its portrayal of gender and sexuality. Join us as we dive into this compelling story and discuss its impact. * Register at the following link: https://forms.gle/kGxK5uLUa3AYeonw8 * Zoom link will be sent to those who register.
