Welcome to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee! |
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee is responsible for exploring ways to support the mission of the North Carolina Library Association, particularly as it relates to issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Initiatives develop and implemented by the committee focus on the following areas:
Support for underrepresented populations within NCLA: Opportunities for engagement, support, and networking for individuals who self-identify as members of underrepresented populations (i.e. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Individuals with disabilities); supporting the work of REMCo
Educational opportunities: Mechanisms to learn about DEI-related topics and improve DEI proficiency among NCLA members (i.e. webinars, training sessions, workshops, professional development opportunities)
Best practices, both internal and external: Structures and strategies to develop, support, and sustain diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environments, services, programs, collections, and resources (i.e. Hiring, Retention & Promotion; Programming & Collection Development)
