Greetings from the Mayor of Winston-Salem!
Librarians Build Communities is proud to partner with the Smart Start Network as the non-profit supported during the 2023 NCLA Conference. The Smart Start Network is comprised of the North Carolina Partnership for Children (NCPC) and 75 local partnerships that support crucial early childhood programs and services in all 100 counties in NC.
Please help us by bringing a donation of early childhood books to the NCLA Conference! Collection bins will be set up at various sites for the duration of the conference for your convenience. We are asking for age-appropriate books that support literacy development in early childhood from birth to five years of age.
These books will be shared with Smart Start local partnerships across the entire state in need of additional literacy support. Furthermore, library staff will be able to sign up for a future service opportunity with their local Smart Start after the conference. More information will be shared about the sign-up process soon. If you wish to make a monetary donation in lieu of a book donation, please reach out to Julie Fogg, NCPC Director of Development, at jfogg@smartstart.org to discuss how best to designate your contribution.
We are excited for this partnership and the opportunity to extend our service and donations to multiple parts of our beautiful state. Please email Staci Wilson at lbc@nclaonline.org with any questions. Thank you!
