Victory for 'The House of the Spirits' in Watauga Co.; Board votes 3-2 against banning book

Faced with deciding the final outcome of a parent-led challenge to remove “The House of the Spirits,” by Chilean author Isabel Allende, from its 10th-grade Honors English class, the Watauga County School Board voted by a 3-2 margin on Thursday night to retain the controversial novel in the curriculum.
