Here are some things we are doing:

Hurricane Florence Update

NC disaster relief fund

At this time the full extent of damage to libraries along the eastern coast of the state is still unknown.  ALA supports the establishment of a fund to help but since other agencies are collecting monies as well, it seems best to consolidate efforts and support other state wide efforts to help where needed.  I am asking that we, as members of NCLA support disaster efforts through the Governor's office in two ways. First, financial donations will go into a state disaster relief fund to be used as needed by the communities most impacted by the hurricane.  Secondly, the Governor's office has established a volunteer network to coordinate manpower efforts where needed.  NCLA members who volunteer through the Governor's office should also send an email to Kim, who will keep a spreadsheet and tally of time that we will recognize through our Librarians build communities program.

The link with detailed information about volunteering and giving is here:  https://www.nc.gov/volunteer

As most of our lives get back to normal, please remember that recovery efforts such as this take time, so your time and money will be needed ongoing to help these communities get pulled back together.
