Reporting to the Associate Director Library Specialized Collections, the Special Collections Librarian provides expertise and leadership for the strategic development and maintenance of Special Collections.

ALA-accredited MLS

Knowledge of metadata and intellectual control in the context of special collections

Significant demonstrated experience (at least three years) processing special collections material

Significant demonstrated experience providing reference for special collections in a university or special library

Experience managing graduate students, interns or other temporary employees

Experience with digital library development in the context of special collections including knowledge of EAD and ArchivesSpace

Knowledge of published materials cataloging practices

Experience with managing a museum collection in an Archive, including tracking collections using PastPerfect software

Experience creating and installing exhibits

Knowledge of and experience with digitization projects and creating digital collections

Ability to work with a diverse group of donors and solicit donations in accordance with the Collection Development Policy

Experience drafting and revising policies, including those related to collection development

Experience providing reference and information literacy services in relation to Special Collections for undergraduate and grad students, faculty, patrons and visiting scholars
