THE COLLEGE: Founded in 1992, Living Arts College offers BA degrees in five different creative programs, Diplomas in three different medical arts programs, and in addition offers evening classes for working adults. The College serves many students among its various programs, and its sister campus in Winston Salem serves students specifically in the medical programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The librarian’s professional responsibilities consist of organization of the entire Library program within the budget that the Librarian develops and submits. This includes purchasing, acquisitions cataloguing, continuous development of the reference collection, circulation, library utilization and use, providing technical services, coordinating the library with the academic programs of the school and the training and supervision of library work-study students. The librarian also provides library usage instruction to specific classes and instructors upon request.

DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to) THE FOLLOWING:
1. Implement the library policies and procedures outlined in the College’s guide.
2. Prepare and submit a budget for library acquisitions.
3. Maintain inventory of media service materials.
4. Review media service holdings to determine currency of the appropriate material and evaluate dated materials.
5. Maintain the library’s online Integrated Library System.
6. Provide reference services for the faculty and students.
7. Provide library orientation and instruction in library skills for the faculty and students as needed.
8. Catalog and process all library materials.
9. Collaborate with instructors to integrate library usage with class work.
10. Complete projects as assigned by the Campus Director, including student textbook order and distribution.
11. Report any technical problems to personnel responsible for servicing the equipment.
12. Provide annual reports on the effectiveness of the library, including budgeting.

QUALIFICATIONS: MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited library school; a minimum of three years responsibility in a library. Knowledge of academic and technical needs for library support of programs. Must have knowledge of current trends in libraries including automated library services; excellent communication skills; ability to work with community groups; skills to manage, supervise and evaluate personnel; ability to plan and administer a budget in accordance with college procedures.

REPORTS TO: Campus Director

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
