Position requirements:
Significant experience in academic libraries—ALA accredited library degree preferred
Strong communication and writing skills
Demonstrated experience managing and organizing projects
Experience writing grant proposals and managing grants, preferred
Leadership experience
Experience fostering collaboration
About the grant:
Libraries that are part of NCICU are partnering to develop effective structures and systems to support deep collaboration. This project will help participating libraries determine the best structure and tools for developing and maintaining effective long-term collaboration to benefit all participating libraries. Deep collaboration will enable participating libraries to leverage the knowledge and skills spread among our institutions; sharing ideas, information, and skills to improve the workforce; working together to strengthen our operations and build more effective infrastructure. Together, we will resolve issues so that our libraries can work together to do more for our users and provide the best possible service to our users. This grant is made possible by funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-00-17-0034-17).
About the position:
LSTA grant funding supports a part-time staff member for $25-30 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience). The staff member will report to the executive board of the NCICU Deep Collaboration Steering Committee and the President of NCICU. Depending on the success of the initial year of the grant and the success in obtaining additional grant funds, this position could become a full-time position supporting NCICU libraries.
