The Library is located in historic downtown Columbia, the county seat of Tyrrell County, in Northeastern North Carolina in the area known as the Inner Banks. Columbia is less than an hour from the popular Outer Banks beaches. Tyrrell County is a diverse economic and ecological destination where red wolves, black bear, and bobcats roam and eagles sour. With the Albemarle Sound to the North, the Alligator River to the East and the Scuppernog River going through the town, Columbia is a boater and fisherman’s dream. The town is quaint, beautiful and the library is well attended.
$39, 269.00/yr. + full benefits, at a minimum, depending on qualifications. A 35 hour a week position.
MLS from ALA-accredited institution; minimum three years of public library experience; supervisory experience; eligible for certification by the North Carolina Public Library Certification Board; technology skills and high energy. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with community groups and county officials as well as work as a team member with the Perquimans County Library staff, 3 other County Librarians and the Regional Director.
Provides leadership, direction and professional guidance in the delivery of library services in Tyrrell County. Supervises staff of 4. Responsible for all operations and management of a very active county library. Must have experience in library and office technology. Reports to the Director of the Regional Library.
